New Feature: Outbid Notices
posted: Dec 1 2013
eBay can't send outbid notices for snipes, because they don't know about your bid until we place it at the last second! So, to help you win more snipes, we have added a new feature, Outbid Notices. This great feature is now available for all customers at no extra cost. It is enabled for all users by default, and can be configured (or turned off) in your Preferences.
Please note that this tool is not a perfect guarantee against all outbid situations, as explained below.
It has the following features:
- Sends complete summary list - Receive a complete list of all pending snipes and status of each, with outbids highlighted.
- Spam reduction - Configure how often you receive alerts (or turn them off)
- Quick access to BidSlammer - We include a direct link to update your bid(s)
- No repeat notices - You will never receive a duplicate outbid notice, unless you have increased your bid since the last outbid notice.
There are a few limitations, however:
- Refreshes per day - There is a limit to the number of refreshes we can do per day, so for example, if we refresh your items at 6:00 PST, and someone places a bid higher than yours at 6:05 PST, we won't catch it until the next refresh, and by then the item could possibly have ended.
- Proxy bids - naturally we cannot protect against proxy bids either, since those are kept entirely secret and there is no way to detect these bids without cheating.

We hope you enjoy this new feature. Please feel free to post any questions or enhancement requests here.
