A bid did not show up for me and I therefore did not win.
On your completed list I read: "Your snipe could not be placed because your maximum bid was below the current minimum bid." But this is not true, as my maximum bid was 31.09 as you can see below. This is very disappointing. I think I deserve a refund of the money that I paid to you.

Hello William,
Thank you for your question about this snipe. eBay returned the error, "Item cannot be purchased. Seller does not provide shipping to the country or region of your primary shipping address."
Thank you for taking the time to write in. Please let us know if you need any other assistance.

Where can I see on your platform the error message: "Item cannot be purchased. Seller does not provide shipping to the country or region of your primary shipping address"? In fact, where can I see that error message anywhere?
Why do I instead see the untrue message: "Your snipe could not be placed because your maximum bid was below the current minimum bid"?
I have multiple shipping addresses, including addresses in Canada and USA. As you can see, I place bids on auctions in those countries. When I win an auction, I can choose the correct shipping address when I pay. In any case, what you are implying doesn't make sense if I want Bidslammer.com to interleave snipes on auctions in Canada and the USA. Can Bidslammer temporarily specify a valid shipping address before it places a snipe if this will allow the snipe to be placed?
Why did Bidslammer not warn me that such a problem existed? Everything was "green" in the hours before the end of that auction.

We have no way of predicting every error condition that could occur. Our job is to place the snipe and we did so. Each snipe returned the same error.
I realize you have CA as your primary country and the seller listed Canada as a place he ships, but he also has a block in place if the ship location doesn't match the country. That's all I can surmise.

You obviously were able to determine the error that occurred, so you must have been informed of the error when the snipe was placed. The least that you can do is to report to me the actual error that occurred, instead of reporting an incorrect error.
Where does it show CA as my primary country? I can't find that on any eBay website.
I notice now that 'none' was part of the information listed under "shipping". To me that is now a flag to investigate on my list of current auctions. It seems that you should be able to detect that as well, and perhaps color the auction in a certain color to prompt users to investigate. Do you have an FAQ entry for 'none' with regards to shipping?
Also, I assume that it would at least sometimes be possible for you, if you allow me to choose a shipping address, to update my shipping address prior to placing a snipe. I understand that this may be a lot of effort, and it might not be economically viable for you.
I know that I am disappointed, but please don't get defensive. I'm willing to work with you all to improve your service, and would be willing to help to test any fixes and improvements that you can put in place.

It did detect and display the correct error.
There is not a way to check for that situation because most of the blocking terms chosen by the seller are not disclosed until the time of bid.
We used to allow a choice as to which site the bid is placed through, but no one used it.

The correct error was not displayed to me, as I had mentioned above.
On your completed list I read: "Your snipe could not be placed because your maximum bid was below the current minimum bid." But this is not true, as my maximum bid was 31.09.
Can I phone you. It may be easier to discuss this over the phone than by these messages. I would like to help to improve bidslammer. You might think that everything is working properly, but it is not. I have noticed other problems as well, but have not written about them.

When I log in as you and hover, the error for item 404173921319 it gives the shipping error. I assumed you had seen that it updated after closing.
Here's how the win/lose status works. eBay gives us a feed. But it is flaky and often doesn't update for a while. So we had to write a robot that runs periodically to go and clean up anything it got wrong. I can't think of any other way to determine the true final outcome.
And sure, suggestions are always welcome, and we generally take every one we hear if it is something everyone can use. Who better to give suggestions than the people using it?
However, I would suggest holding off on a list of changes right now because anything you have to report is probably already addressed in the next software release, and the interface is going to change somewhat. Normally there are weekly or even daily releases, but we're in a code freeze right now. It has to do with hotfix measures we had to put in place back in November.

Hmmm. Well I definitely saw an incorrect error, at least at first. Maybe in the cases where an error could be incorrect and might need to be updated, you can soften the error message at first. So perhaps write something like: "Error to be confirmed. Was your maximum bid below the current minimum bid?" Actually, your system correctly reported the winning bid and you knew my maximum bid, so you could in theory rule out a problem with my maximum bid.
This address problem seems pretty rare, at least for me. Well, now I'm more sensitive to the issue, but I was sniping for a while before I came across this problem. Do you collect statistics on the ultimate errors that are reported by ebay for snipes with errors?
