Does the subscription automatically renew or do you ask me?

Pay-Per-Use is always a one time billing.
Subscriptions paid by credit card are a one time billing.
Subscriptions paid by PayPal are recurring, but you can immediately suspend or cancel and keep using it through the subscription period. For example, you can purchase the 3-month plan and then immediately "suspend" it.
