I won the auction but the snipe placed by the system did not meet the reserve. Does this mean that my max price was below the reserve? Or that there was not enough competition to push my snipe up to the reserve price?

Any time that you meet the value of the reserve, it will always bring the price up to the value of the seller's reserve price, so that you win the item.
