Slam it???

Hi,
I have a question re your guidance:
Helpful Tip: For auctions, eBay always calculates the price by taking the second-highest bid and adding a bid increment.
For the subject item bid tonight, I sniped 235.50 at 2 secs. But, I had also added 4 increments to a total of 245.50. Another bid won at $236.
My question: does your software and eBay really automatically ad the increments I plus up OR must I select the "ADD SNIPE" button each time I increase my amount increments??
I'm puzzled by the statement that eBay "always calculates the price by taking the second-highest bid and adding a bid increment"?

Hello Mike,
Thank you for your question about the minimum bid increment. In the case of this item, check the bid history for the item. At the time we placed the bid, the price was already up to $236, so your bid was rejected by eBay.

Another way to explain the increment is to say that eBay takes the current price (at the time of the bid) and requires a bid increment for the bid to register. More info is available here:
